Pantone Color of the Year - Living Coral
Each year, experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb through to the ends of the earth to find new color influences. This could be anything from film to fashion to travel. They basically look for anything that has captured worldwide attention. This year’s color is Living Coral, an energetic pink-y orange with golden undertones. It has a wide range of applications for you to find just the right amount of boldness to fit your style,. It is best when mixed in with neutrals for a subtle side, and best if paint across the wall for those wild ones out there. Whichever end of the spectrum you are on, I hope this inspires you!
I love scouring the web to see how the Color of the Year is used in the design world. It’s fun to see different styles and aesthetics incorporate the same color in their vastly different designs. Firstly, of course, is a bathroom. I love how the hidden pop of color is only really noticed if you’re fully in the space. The coral color plays off the wallpaper perfectly, adding just the right side of hype to the room.
Secondly, an accent wall - and this one if exactly how an accent wall is to be used. I love the electricity that the color gives to the room. This space would have a totally different feel if the wall was kept white to match the rest of the room. Also, this is a testament to the fact that eclectic works and different styles and cultures can jive together.
Thirdly, black on black with a pop of color? Yup. The softness of the coral velvet juxtaposing the harshness of the black wall gives the space a stylish contrast. I love how the hint of gold brings out the richness of the golden undertones in Living Coral.
