Ontario Lodge - Before and After

As much as we love a new build - clean slate kind of project, the work of transforming something that was dated and forgotten into a refreshed and life giving space is truly satisfactory.

The condo is positioned in the heart of Deer Valley, with beautiful secluded pines off the back deck, but you would never know behind the heavy shutters. The main living area was dark - I mean the kind of dark that felt like dusk at 10:00am. First things first, the shutters got the boot. We replaced them with lighter linen roller shades, offering a lightness to the room right off the bat. The original sectional was custom built for the unusually facetted room. We had the dark brown velvet swapped out for a lighter taupe upholstery. The dated animal print pillows were replaced with cognac leather and Sundance inspired accent pillows. The newer, contemporary coffee table adds to the lodge-like feel of the space with wood and metal accents while keeping with the updated and fresh feel.

Following in step with the living area, the dining room was lack luster and a thought of decades past. The table was insufficient for the number of guest the condo is able to accommodate, so a larger dining table that still comfortably fit the space was top on the list. We traded out the table and microfiber side chairs for our Messina Dining Table - a square, solid pine and iron contemporary table. We paired the table with our Roosevelt Chairs - a leather grain upholstery with solid wood legs. We removed the console to maximize the space in the dining area. We refreshed the 90’s antler + mini shade chandelier combo, for a fresh silver gilded antler chandelier.

The detailed grain of the upholstery and solid wood legs convey rich character. A transitional form and warm Chestnut hue ensure Roosevelt surpasses seasonal trends.

We were sad to see the Baroque printed cork wallcovering go - JK. We removed the wall covering and painted the condo thoroughly with a creamy white. The client had many vintage weavings, making this the perfect accent for above the new low profile bed. We replaced the bedding with something in line with the lodge like aesthetic, but with a much cleaner and refined feel.

So long, red! We painted throughout the bunk room giving the sponge-painted walls a fresher feel. The original bunk beds were kept, but paired with more contemporary bedding and tribal print accent pillows.
